The Graduate Program in Genetics and Molecular Biology has as a major goal to provide a solid education and scientific training for the future leaders in this field. Our scientific staff is composed by Faculty and Researchers from the State University of Campinas and several other Institutions located in the State of São Paulo.

Research areas deal with fundamental and applied problems related to Animal Genetics and Evolution (Evolution, Animal Genetics and Molecular Biology), Genetics of Microorganisms (Genetics and Molecular Biology of Microorganisms, Teaching Methodologies), Plant Genetics and Breeding (Genetics and Plant Molecular Biology, Plant Biotechnology), Microbiology (Mechanisms of Microbial Virulence, Animal Virology), Immunology (Immunology of Infectious and Parasitic Diseases, Immunobiology), Bioinformatics (Methodologies for data analysis in biological systems).

Our students, working in these research areas, aim to understand fundamental aspects of genetics and evolution, helping to improve human health, to produce better crops and many other relevant topics.
