BIO-DAP
Description: Bio-dap calculates diversity indices corresponding to those presented by A. E. Magurran in "Ecological Diversity and its Measurement" (Princeton Univ. Press). Calculations include: rarefaction, geometric series, log series, truncated log normal, broken stick, Q statistic, Shannon diversity index, Brillouin index, Simpson's index, McIntosh's index, Berger-Parker index, jack-knifing, Pielou's pooled quadrat, beta diversity, similarity measures.

Biotools
Description: Biotools is an Excel macro that allows you to select an input range (your dataset) and describe it (give some input as to how it is set up) and then have the macro calculate all eight (at this time) diversity indices, put them on the selected output range or a new sheet and optionally output SAS ready files (a dataset and a macro to read the dataset).

Curve Expert
Description: CurveExpert 1.3 is a comprehensive curve fitting system for Windows. XY data can be modelled using a toolbox of linear regression models, nonlinear regression models, interpolation, or splines. Over 30 models are built-in, but custom regression models may also be defined by the user. Full-featured graphing capability allows thorough examination of the curve fit. The process of finding the best fit can be automated by letting CurveExpert compare your data to each model to choose the best curve. This program was designed to be simple but powerful, so that all users can obtain a model for their data quickly and easily.

Distance
Description: Distance is a Windows-based computer package that allows you to design and analyze distance sampling surveys of wildlife populations.

Easy Thumbnails
Description: Thumbnails can be created in any existing folder or a new folder, and you can identify them clearly by adding a prefix or suffix to their filename. If you're an image-processing enthusiast, you'll enjoy having a choice of eleven resampling filters for the best possible results. You can convert small batches of images inside Windows Explorer from the File menu or with a right-click of the mouse, display thumbnails in your browser, and even take advantage of command-line switches to generate thumbnails seamlessly from other programs. You can also save your thumbnails to a Web page using a HTML template that you can easily customize to create your own layouts, and there's helpful documentation that includes full instructions and some useful tips.

Portinho
Description: o Portinho é uma solução completa para manutenção de computadores. Funciona em Windows 98/ME/NT/2000/XP. O software é nacional e apresenta as instruções em português proporcionando facilidade no uso. É gratuito. O Portinho é prático, simples e pequeno (aproximadamente 1 megabyte). Poptools
Description: PopTools is a versatile add-in for PC versions of Microsoft Excel (97, 2000 or XP) that facilitates analysis of matrix population models and simulation of stochastic processes.

Populus
Description: The Populus software contains a set of simulations that we use to teach population biology and evolutionary ecology at the University of Minnesota. Simulation models are chosen from menus, and students can move among the parameter boxes of an input window, changing initial defaults to values of their own choosing. Most modules offer several graphical outputs of model dynamics, and all provide help screens explaining the computational algorithms.

Programita
Description: The Programita software allows you to perform univariate and bivariate point-pattern analysis with Ripley's L-function and the O-ring statistic. Programita contains standard and non-standard procedures for most practical applications. Procedures for non-standard situations include the possibility to perform point-pattern analyses for arbitrarily shaped study regions and Programita offers a range of non-standard null models such as heterogeneous Poisson null models or cluster null models.

R

Description: SAM (Spatial Analysis in Macroecology) is compact but robust computer program designed as a package of statistical tools for spatial analyzes, mainly for the purposes of Macroecology. SAM is for Microsoft Windows, built as an user-friendly menu-driven computational program that run several statistical methods currently used in Surface Pattern Spatial Analysis. We think that it fits most of current scientific and analytical needs of Macroecologists, Biogeographers and Geographical Ecologists that aim to study broad scale biological patterns and processes.

SPPA
Description: SPPA is a statistical program which analyses spatial point patterns based on Ripley's K-function. The method is used by ecologists, mostly for analysis of spatial distribution patterns of plant species, which can reveal information on stand history, population dynamics, and intra- and inter-specific competition.

Description: Afree image processing and analysis program for Microsoft Windows 95 or Windows NT.
